What’s new

Every change that reached tapeworm.app, newest first. Tapeworm is in open beta and ships often: current version v0.6.2, updated October 24, 2026.

v0.6.2 · October 24, 2026

Clearer status, steadier Net Liquidity

  • Net Liquidity stays up when the St. Louis Fed's data site (FRED) is down: the card now falls back to the Federal Reserve Board's own copy of the same Fed balance-sheet number.
  • One outside source being down no longer looks like an outage. Only our own market feed turns the header chip to DOWN; a single source (like the Fed balance sheet) shows as an amber "1 data source down" banner, with the chip still LIVE.
  • Fixed: the Tape flagged the feed's normal weekday 1:05–3:00 PM PT pause (around the futures daily break) as "Data feed down".
  • Dealer gamma regime now follows price against the flip: above the flip reads positive, below it negative. The two could disagree when price sat right next to the flip.
  • Steadier data on rough mornings: if our options-data connection stalls, prices and bands now still update on time; only the walls skip that 5-minute read.
  • Fixed: when one of our options-data reads failed, the dealer gamma card, walls and flip went blank until the next read. They now keep the last good reading.
  • The Tape header now shows how fresh the numbers are and when the next read is due ("AS OF … · 2 min ago · next ~10:27 ET"), turning amber if a read is late. Values that change on a refresh, like the regime or a wall, briefly light up.
  • The Tape's cards now refresh in step with our data feed, so a new reading (like a regime change) shows within a minute or two instead of up to ten.
v0.6.1 · October 21, 2026

Know when a data source is down

  • If our market-data feed falls behind, or an outside source like the Fed balance sheet, Treasury or the NY Fed stops answering, the Tape now says so at the top: "Data feed down (under investigation)", with what's affected. The header chip reads DOWN until it's back.
  • Planned maintenance and announcements now appear as a banner on every page, with the time window. You can dismiss them; outage notices stay until they're over.
  • Fixed: when the Fed's data site was down for maintenance, Net Liquidity showed a blank "no data". It now says "Fed Balance Sheet is down for maintenance".
v0.6.0 · October 19, 2026

See where price sits inside the priced move

  • New on the Tape: the EM band gauge. A ring that shows where price sits inside the move the options market priced: 50% is the anchor, 0 and 100% are the edges, past them is beyond the priced move.
  • Overnight it uses the 5 PM PT band on the next expiry, with the thinner 3 PM reopen read alongside and the gap from the prior close shown separately. In the session it switches to the frozen session band; over the weekend it shows Friday's band, grayed out and labelled as Friday's.
  • The ring keeps a faint mark at the session high, and flags a tag of the top or bottom edge that reverted.
  • Fixed: a missing options read at 6:45 AM PT could leave a market with no session band all day. The next anchor with a read now stands in, marked late.
  • Fixed: on Sunday evening the Tape could show a morning session band stamped at the 3 PM reopen.
  • The liquidity card adds the 4-week TGA flow and warns when a big one-day Treasury cash move sits at the edge of the 20-day window.
  • The economic calendar is refreshed through December 31.
v0.5.1 · October 13, 2026

Set-up lights on NQ and the Russell

  • The set-up lights now run on NQ and RTY too, not just ES. Their track records were measured on ES, and the card says so.
  • Beta Pro: import 20 or more trades and unlock Pro with one click. The button stays grayed out until you reach 20.
v0.5.0 · October 11, 2026

See any day up close

  • Blackbox → By condition has a day picker: choose a day you traded to see that day's market conditions, a chart with the walls, EM band and 240m line, and your entries and exits on it.
  • Each trade gets one line saying what was true when you entered: distance from the 240m, where price sat in the EM band, dealer gamma, walls, EM/ATR. Unusual parts are highlighted.
  • Ask Moneyness "why did I lose on this day?" or "how do I do in negative gamma?" and she answers from your own trades.
  • Market conditions are now back-filled from CME history for ES/MES and NQ/MNQ trades since June 2025, marked "back-filled"; walls (and NQ's gamma regime) are approximate on those.
  • Release notes live here and in the app (What's new, top right).
v0.4.1 · October 9, 2026

Know when your records are behind

  • The Tape's Trader card has a new first row, records up to date: solid green when your imports cover the last trading day, pulsing red with how many days behind when they don't.
  • Altimeter says so too: a bar under the header when its numbers are older than the last trading day, with a link to import.
  • Didn't trade? One click marks the day as no trades, so the light stays honest.
v0.4.0 · October 9, 2026

A smarter import, and a sharper Tape

  • Import reads TopstepX, Tradovate (and NinjaTrader web), NinjaTrader 8, Rithmic R|Trader (Apex and other Rithmic firms), Quantower and Tradervue files by themselves, and pairs files with one row per buy or sell into trades.
  • You see every trade and its P&L before anything is saved. For other files, match the columns once and Tapeworm remembers them.
  • The 240m 3/10 card now matches thinkorswim: it counts the forming bar, adds the slow line, calls out the fast/slow cross, and draws a small oscillator chart.
  • The Tape refreshes itself every five minutes while you're on it, and each walls reading shows the time it was taken.
  • The chart says when today's EM band will lock, until it does.
  • Accounts: your label shows everywhere, two accounts of the same kind must have different labels, and you can rename an account in Settings.
v0.3.1 · October 6, 2026

Privacy and page analytics

  • The privacy policy now names our page analytics (Vercel Web Analytics, no cookies) and the provider behind Moneyness's longer answers.
v0.3.0 · October 5, 2026

Crude oil and gold on the Tape

  • CL and GC join ES, NQ and RTY: dealer walls, the expected-move band (locked from each product's own session open), and the chart shading for their own trading hours.
  • Moneyness can walk you through Tapeworm itself: adding an account, importing, the trade drawer, the calendar, filters and more.
v0.2.0 · October 2, 2026

Tapeworm opens for the beta

  • tapeworm.app is live for beta testers: the Tape, Blackbox and Altimeter, free during the beta.

Tapeworm is education and information. It describes market conditions and reflects your own trading arithmetic back to you. It does not recommend trades, route orders, or provide investment advice. Futures trading involves substantial risk of loss. Prop-firm rules are modeled from each firm's published terms; the firm's own dashboard is the record.
